I'm looking to evaluate OpenDeep. Any recommendations on GPU hardware (NVidia graphics cards) and what Distribution of Linux to use?

Great! For GPU, I'd recommend the best you can get for the budget (it really does make difference in the development speed by getting quick feedback if the model works or not). My personal experiments run on a GTX 780, but I'd recommend 980 or titan if you can get one. Ubuntu 14.04 is the distro I use locally and on servers, and you can follow this guide for setting up Theano (then just clone OpenDeep and run develop)
